Description

FMSec (File Manager SECurity) is a set of extensions to file managers that enable some security-related operations to be easily performed.

The operations are:

You can access the operations from the context menu on specific objects (when you right-click on them).

FMSec is just a set of context menu entries. All the software mentioned above you wish to use needs to be already installed on the system.

FMSec supersedes what was previously called KonqSec, Konq4Sec and Konq5Sec.

Installing the software

Local (per user) installation

To install for all supported desktop environments at once:
  1. unpack the archive
  2. change into the unpacked directory: cd fmsec-4.5
  3. run ./install-all.sh or make install-all
To install for a single desktop environment:
  1. unpack the archive
  2. change into the unpacked directory: cd fmsec-4.5
  3. change into the directory of your chosen desktop environments (e.g. cd KDE5)
  4. run ./install.sh
You can also run the chosen commands from the list:

Global (system-wide) installation

To install globally (KDE5 and Xfce only), run one of: The default prefix for global installation and uninstallation is /usr. To change it, run the respective make command with the PREFIX parameter, giving the new value, e.g.
	make install-global PREFIX=/usr/local
You need access privileges to install globally.

Reporting issues

Any defects or issues can be reported by e-mail or in the SourceForge project defect manager (in English).

Any improvement suggestions can be reported by e-mail or in the SourceForge project ticket manager (in English).

To report usage problems, include:

  1. the file manager you're using and its version, e.g. Dolphin 20.12.2,
  2. the name and version of the desktop environment where the problem occurs, e.g. KDE 5.78.0,
  3. a description of the problem that the software causes,
  4. any error messages that are displayed,
  5. any other information that you think could lead to solving the problem.
